The Bubble

Throughout my life many people have told me I live in a bubble. I am sure they are referring to my cluelessness about certain things happening around me. For example, did you know that human trafficking is worse in the United States than in any other country? Or that Hillary is running for president? Kidding! (Everyone knows that one).

Here is the deal about me and my bubble. It protects me; it is generally always sunny and I like it that way. I don’t always say the right things at times. I can be too candid in conversations, if that is even possible, but it is me. You are always getting me, the whole me. I believe my friends and family like me for me; they don’t want me to be anyone else. I am the fun, honest one in the group.  Every circle of friends needs the fun one, especially if they can be honest and make you laugh at the same time.

Funny side bar: I had an acquaintance when I was in my late 20’s, let’s call her Linda. In my late 20’s a fun night out on the town was going to one of the latest bars with all my girlfriends, dressed to the nines, having some cocktails and hopefully meeting some nice guys.  We would not even be out 20 minutes, so basically three sips into our first drink. Linda would be sharing what a great catch she was. “I’m going to win big with a great guy because why not? I’m a great catch, I have an incredible job.  Anyone would be lucky to take me out on a date, I’m working in the pharma industry, living in Manhattan, in a walk up apartment, have a half share in a shore house, I’m skinny, pretty, and a great catch,” she would say.

As you can imagine, all my friends and I would say, “WHO says that about themselves” “ HOW pompous!” But then I got to thinking, why not say that about yourself? If you believe it, put it out in the universe, be confident! Make it happen!!

That is exactly what I am going to do here.  I am going to say those things; I need to say it out loud, put it out in the universe. Maybe it is exactly what you need to hear today. Hopefully, this will inspire you to do the same. In the end, you should be your best you.

Until we meet again!
