Ok, if you have not seen the movie Love Actually, I encourage you to watch it. It is a great movie with different characters all living the same grind – figuring out how to love, accept love, and be loved.
An easy, feel-good moment that any of us can have is so simple and it costs nothing- take a walk around your neighborhood. Seriously! If you own a dog leash him up and walk when it is night. If you don’t have a dog, grab your bestie or your child and walk the neighborhood, assuming it is safe and you have a flashlight. Why you ask?
Love is all around you!! You can catch a glimpse of your neighbor’s home life but more importantly, you can feel the love through the windows. I am not kidding. If you empty your mind of all your worries and just enjoy the walk, as you pass by your neighbors’ windows you will see dogs barking as you walk you by, the husband and wife watching tv together, the kids running around the house, and my personal favorite, the gathering of friends and family. You know what I am talking about: the driveway is overflowing with cars, all the lights outside are on, candles are lit inside, and through the window you can see friends and family gathered around the table, enjoying themselves.
Gathering around the table is one of my favorite expressions of love. Someone in that house most likely prepared that meal, thought through the meal – all the sides, the main dish, the wine to serve, if the kids were eating something special, and what to serve for dessert.
Life is hard. We all have stress and personal worries, but if you take a few minutes and just notice what is around you, I promise you, you will appreciate this little thing called love.
