Hit Reset

Just like a new mom nests before the arrival of her baby, I find myself mid-August, without fail, nesting. I start to clean out drawers, organize closets, discard items I have not seen all summer long, throw food away that has expired, clean blinds, move furniture, the list goes on.

Here is the thing,  once I start, I can’t stop until it is all done. I love how new and fresh the whole house feels, the look of organization when I open a closet. It seems I always find clothes I forgot I had or the girls had, so some things become like new.

With school starting it is a new beginning for all. What a great opportunity to take some time and reflect on what you want the next season to look like and start acting upon it. I am not going to lie, I am excited about it. With the house clean, I walked the girls through each room and asked them what they saw to which they both responded, “ A clean room!”  I said “Exactly…. This is how it should look when you leave from now on.”

I am ending my day with a cup of mint tea from our garden and reading instead of staring at a screen. The girls are heading to bed early, as am I. Mind you I am just a few days in but feeling great. My mind is clearer, life seems easier even though it has become more structured with school here again. What are you ready to reset about your life in this new season?
