Ok, we are now two weeks into the New Year. How many people have already fallen off their new year’s resolution? It is estimated that more than 40% of Americans made a resolution that involved self-improvement. It is also estimated that only 8% will achieve their News Year Resolution according to Forbes.com.
I am guilty of it myself. I have a hard time using the word “resolution”. I have learned, when I say “my news year’s resolution is to…….”, it becomes something I obsess over and therefore it is too hard to achieve. But, when I change the word to “GOALS”, the outcome is so much different. The word goals seems achievable and easy to measure. The word “resolution” comes with so much pressure to succeed without a real plan in place; it becomes a statement I can’t live up to. Goals on the other hand, will have an action plan along with reflection moments and measurement gauges.
With any goals you need to lay out the plan. Keep it as simple as possible and make it tangible, so there is no confusion on what you are trying to achieve.
My personal goals:
Continue to practice Self Love, which not only includes my reflection moments but work out at least twice a week.
Keep the main kitchen counter clear.
Clearly show my appreciation for those close to me.
What about you? How are you making out with those resolutions, what if you changed it to goals?
