People kill their happiness in life by their tongues. They explode or write a sharp letter, and the evil is done. The real victim is not the other person but oneself.
How many times do we say something quickly, in the moment, that can cause harm to the receiver? This saying reminds me, if we practice The Noble Eightfold Path, we are always aware of our actions, pausing before responding and ensuring we are keeping our moral compass on track.
Right View, Right Resolve, Right Speech, Right Conduct, Right Livihood, Right Effort, Right Mindfulness and Right Union.
Start taking an inventory of your days and determine where you should focus your efforts to becoming the best you. No matter your religious upbringing, there is no denying these are wise words.
