We recently took a vacation to a spot along the Chesapeake. We had no real expectations or plans for the week. On this vacation, I was determined to let the day take us where it would. If you know me, you know I don’t say that easily, I don’t let anything typically take me as it will. Each day the girls slept in while I had coffee on the balcony watching the boats and J got a workout in each morning. We sat by the pool for hours, we had cocktails, we took walks, we had late dinners, and the girls even got to do some firsts.
We took the girls on their first jet ski ride, they loved it! It was very freeing feeling the water splash our faces as we jumped the choppy waters. We taught the girls how to play pool. Once Delaney learned the game, she was determined she could beat me, forgetting I grew up with a pool table in my basement. We even were caught in a very bad thunderstorm that flooded the little town we were visiting so with our little ponchos on, we jumped into the puddles and rain as fast as we could for cover, of course to an ice cream parlor.
I suggest if you find your normal day to day has been too hard, maybe what you need is an escape – an unhurried, undefined, vacation that takes you where it will….
