We recently replaced my favorite leather club chair that sat in my dining room for the past 7 years. Before moving to PA it was in my office in Raleigh, and was a key asset to all the important life conversations Jarrod and I had. From the decision to leave his organization, start his own business, plan our wedding, to moving back to PA. While here in PA it has been where I enjoyed my morning coffee or caught up on the day late night with Jarrod. (If you did not know, late night to me is 9pm)
The decision to replace the chair was easy; it was very worn, not as comfortable anymore and really not easy on the eyes. My new chair, also a club chair is a pretty grey linen.
Throwing the chair away made for an easy reflective moment, not because of the act of throwing it away, but because of how that chair supported us through life stages or daily activities. Taking it out of the house made me realize how far we have come, as man and woman, as a couple, and just our journey in life. It was a simple reminder of how lucky we are as a family, the sheer fact we can throw it to the curb and purchase a new one without a second thought.
What is happening in your life that is causing you to reflect and be overly grateful for your life?
