August Recap

Every August for the past 14 years, I have been blessed to get a night or two away with a dear friend who has a beach house. We sit on the beach for hours and ignore any clock. We talk about everything that is happening in our lives, the good, the bad, the ugly. We are honest and exposed, sharing feelings, knowing it is a safe place without judgement.

I typically take at least one walk alone along the coast reflecting on my past year: what has worked, what was a disaster, what is stealing joy or causing joy. Most importantly, what do I want to accomplish for the next year?

This time away is so important to me because it resets my mental clock and grounds me before the hustle bustle of the school year begins.

Do you have a time with that special confident scheduled were you can be raw? Are you spending time to reflect on what you want for your life?  It is never too late to start a practice of reflection and gratitude.
