4th Grade Wisdom- Goal Setting

As adults we discuss our goals on a frequent basis, whether they are family goals, financial goals, or business goals. We recently asked Delaney at dinner if she had given any thoughts to specific goals for the new school year. It became very clear that not only had she thought about it, she was very specific with the goals.

  1. Have fun in fourth grade*
  2. Become a faster reader
  3. Learn to play the flute
  4. Achieve more points toward a classroom party than any class before hers

Three of the goals are generated from hard work by her, and her alone, but the last goal requires teamwork and mutually agreed upon tasks to achieving the goal.

Goal setting is a must when faced with a new endeavor.  There are benefits to both individual and team-oriented goals to bettering yourself.  They both challenge you in different ways as you look to achieve short-term and long-term wins.

When was the last time you set goals?

*Next post is focused on Goal 1.
