Recently I have noticed the sounds in my mid-day are very different than I remember before the world closed down. My new typical workday noises include the following:
The coffee maker brewing coffee, not for me
Children running across the house to get a snack
TV on mid-day
Conference call beeps, not for me
The cookie jar opening
Other phones ringing
The cookie jar opening (happens about 3 times in any given workday)
It has taken a while to get used to the new norm. It was quiet unless I was creating the noise. As time as moved along, I actually now ask myself when I hear the coffee maker, “Oh, do I want another cup?” When I hear the cookie jar, I yell up the stairs, “No more cookies!” It all serves as a reminder; everyone is alive and well. Sometimes that little, “Everyone is alive and well” can settle my “When will this end…”
A while back I did a post on the Sounds of Life. If I look back, the sounds of COVID are very different, but at the same time a simple reminder of blessings all around us.
Be well, be safe!
