We all loved that commercial a few years back with the camel running through the office, yelling that it is “Hump Day.” It was funny, I liked it, and never thought anything beyond that, until Covid-19 hit. Now Wednesday for me is really the middle of the week which can be a bit off the script of a normal weekday. I want to find a restaurant to go out to, linger in the conversation, I want to open a bottle of wine and talk about the last three days, I want to decompress.
Why? Because this Covid thing compresses everyone’s interactions. I work longer hours, as I am sure you do too. I also am not getting the same social interactions I am used to; I am sure you can relate. So for me, by the time Wednesday dinner rolls around, it feels like it could actually be Friday.
I am adjusting and honoring that longing for Friday. What I have learned is that if I decompress a little on Wednesday in this new normal, I am actually more productive the last two days of the week.
Do what is working in this new norm……
It’s better than the alternative which is me feeling like if I haven’t gotten something done by Thursday it won’t happen.
