We are headed on vacation, sitting at the airport, waiting for our flight when one of my family members says something negative. The comment didn’t really matter much as the tone and the fact it was a negative comment. I, on a normal day, have a hard time with negative comments but truly have no room for any negativity on vacation. Vacation is all about sun, relaxing, decompressing, and being grateful for the time to breathe.
I quickly turned to everyone at the table and said, “Was that said with love? Because the next few days we are in the positive zone.” Of course, they all chuckled but guess what happened? We have been home for a few days and when the kids say something negative they are catching themselves and adding at the end, “said with love.”
I will take it, hopefully, we only speak positively but as we learn to change our habit we will say it all with love!
