Just Sit

We are climbing the spiral stairs and they keep going. I am trying to think about nothing but one step at a time. As we approach the platform, the girls get hooked to the cable first, and then me, Jarrod was last. My legs instantly start shaking. “Don’t look down Jarrod says, ever so calmly.” The girls get hooked up in the front, there is a count down and then off they go, cheering, experiencing sheer joy.

It is our turn, and he takes me to the front platform first, I feel like it is my last breath, I am so close to the edge and it is a far distance to the ground. He says, ” I am going to count to three, and you are just going to sit.” He starts counting, and I can hear him like he is in a distance. I say very sure, ” I am not going to go.” He says again, “Just sit, just sit” I do, and off I go down the zipline.

Once it was over, my legs continued to shake and my heart was pumping loudly, but I did it. I overcame my fear and did it. Deep inhales, and the sweet reminder, that you can do anything you put your mind to, regardless of your fear.

  1. That is awesome. Been on my bucket list for years. I hope to check that off before I’m 80. Oops I’d better hurry that’s coming up quickly. Enjoy your adventures.

  2. What a wonderful shared experience that you can look back fondly on with Jarrod and the girls! You’re a tough cookie in everything you tackle
