I am sure you hear it as well: people who read, progress in their work, have better relationships, evolve as a person, continuously grow, and become a better version of themselves. I could not agree more! Reading makes you more human, compassionate, a better wife/husband, and capable of being a leader. But let me share the magic I see, when I read all the time.
I am typically reading a business book/self-help and a fun book simultaneously. Just like you, there is always something in my life that is causing me extra thinking and it is a funny thing, the book(s) I am reading at the time, have the answer to what I am trying to solve, just a little nugget to the puzzle in my head, just as I need it. (Don’t discount the fiction book, behind that fiction is a wise author weaving in life lessons)
My favorite part about this, I buy books often and don’t read them in the order they were bought but the day I pick them up and start reading is exactly the right time to what is happening in my life.
Another God Wink, He always has my back and is watching to lead me in the right decision.
Even though my mom is dealing with dementia she still loves to read. Ask her about the book and she’ll say it is about a man and she will laugh when I jokingly say is he tall, dark & handsome? She might not recall what the book is about but she recalls the emotions that it evoked and the fact that it was a really good read. She loves discovering new authors! It is odd that she recalls the authors but not the book content but that’s the mystery of the brain unfolding. She would probably give David Baldacci the biggest hug if they ever meet. She remembers fondly the hugs that she has received from Lisa Scottoline over the years when we’ve taken her to book signings and book release events at the Colonial Theatre in Phoenixville.
Wherever your book journey takes you, enjoy the ride; even if you don’t remember every detail, remember how the words made you feel!
