It is here, another year will appear in a few hours. I love asking everyone what their resolution will be, challenging myself what I could change or improve. But this past week, I can’t help but reminiscence on what the world was like before the end of 2019.
Every year prior to 2019 I was the girl who gave everyone at my party a balloon. After the ball dropped, we would go outside and let our balloon go, wishing for a better future and thanking the universe for the past and present.
Heading into 2020 I had this grand idea to let Chinese lanterns go rather than balloons. We were all excited at the anticipation of seeing the lanterns in the sky and what is even better, they were atmosphere friendly. It felt like a new beginning. The lantern experience did not go as planned. They were difficult to light and Jarrod’s went directly into a tree on our property and caught on fire. (Thank goodness we never unhooked the hose, it saved our tree and possibly our house!)
So, defeated by the whole 2020 year of isolation I reverted back to balloons for New Year’s 2021. As we took the balloons outside, I was reminded, while a great idea, in theory, this is not good for the atmosphere and I needed something more friendly. Although not a full lockdown year, we did get out a little more, it was still a year of not normal, or new norm as many call it.
So here we are ringing in 2022, I am passing out Fortune Cookies!! A little delight to dip in your ice cream possibly or eat solo, the surprise of an unknown fortune but with the hope of a brighter future.
Wishing you and yours a fabulous New Year, filled with Peace, Love & Tons of Confetti!!!!
