Christmas (Present giving) is upon us

This holiday season, as I make purchase after purchase, I find myself in a constant inner struggle. In this country we all have so much, too much to be honest, but the season almost requires consumerism. This year I have attempted to take a different approach. The gifts I purchased were thoughtful but not extravagant. I did my best to show our appreciation for the ones we love but in a simpler way.

I also find myself taking more time to be quiet, talking to the Lord, realizing how blessed my family really is each day. We have so much to be grateful for and seem to just expect it. I am sure you might not be too different than me. Before Present Day arrives, I look around our house and take stock. We have more than a month’s worth of food in our cupboards , that alone for the average American is not the norm. My children have as many books as a children’s section in a bookstore, enough toys in their toy area to fill a childcare center, and I have more jewelry and blazers than I can wear in a month. The list goes on…

I am hopeful to take the time between the holidays to engage in Box Day (more on this later) and also to put together a plan to continue to be blessed and not spend too much time in the consumer world we live in…

What about you? I bet if you start to reflect, you might feel the same and start to make changes too…

Enjoy your holiday week! Be on the look out for the first blog post of the year on January 5th.  Happy Holidays and Blessings to ALL!!!!
