Wikipedia defines “agape” as the following, “Agape (Ancient Greek ἀγάπη, agápē) is a Greco–Christian term referring to love, the highest form of love, charity. The word is not to be confused with philia, brotherly love, as it embraces a universal, unconditional love that transcends and persists regardless of circumstance. It is translated literally as affection, as in “greet with affection”. Other ancient authors have used forms of the word to denote love of a spouse or family.”
It is so easy to love when everything is going as planned. Whether it be your children are listening, behaving, acting as you taught them and your husband is following suit, sweet at the end of the long day, helping around the house, offering to rub your back because you worked hard. But what about those times when nothing is coming into place?
These are the times we should make every effort possible to love. Love can be an action, more than a feeling. When you act on love, you become a softer person. You learn to let go of your own expectations and just appreciate the now. I am not saying it is easy to love when you don’t want to, but I assure you, you will be a better person for it and your family will notice. They will become more gentle and kind because love is contagious.
Next time you want to be frustrated at what is happening around you, pause for love, then act.
