Recently my husband asked, “I often wonder if this is it? This is what life is about: work, gym, homework with the kids, chores etc.” I called a friend to respond who sometimes sees things differently, or who can say the same thing as me, but it sounds different. She was kind enough to say, “No, we all do the day to day to enjoy life and appreciate the process. And along the way free moments of joy come, in a blink or a long weekend away with family, etc.”
And then the next week, this appeared in my tweeter feed from @Proverbs31org :
We can whisper prayers as we wash the dishes. We can focus on God’s goodness as we fold clothes. We can dream of our child’s future as we change diapers. We can find in today.
Every day is good because it is a gracious gift from God.
I loved this so much, I took a picture to remind myself. It is so easy to get stuck in the day to day, to think this is all there is, but the truth is- it is all good because it is all a gift from God. We just need to remind ourselves each day the gift of the day and then proceed……
I love this. Is there any question more important, or more difficult to answer, than “What is the point of MY life? What am I meant to be doing with my time here on earth?” I deeply respect and admire those who periodically take the time to stop and ask themselves those questions. xo
