Space

Space has many meanings, in this case, I am referring to headspace. Are you allowing time for your brain to relax, naturally process new thoughts and ideas? I am not! I think it has been a month since I really just allowed open space….to exist in my own head.

I realized this the other day, while waiting at the car dealer, I had a 15-minute break between calls while I waited. I sat in the chair realizing I had 15 minutes in a waiting room with NOTHING to do. Naturally, I checked my email, nope- no new emails, checked my texts…. nada, again nothing waiting for a reply.

All of the sudden, it hit me! I have been running at full speed nonstop, and the only real break I allowed myself/mind (or brain) was when I laid my head on my pillow, and even then arguably, I was still making my lists, considering how to coach an employee, thinking about the girls needs etc.

So now what? I acknowledge it, realize the impact it is having on my well-being, and then grant myself grace.  Lots of Grace…and ensure I plan to slow down, even for just an hour before bed.

It won’t be easy; I am going to try. I might even pick up a book before bed…… We all need to shut down daily, not fall into our pillows…..

Are you giving yourself space?
