End of the Movie

I was recently at a work conference in San Antonio. The last night there was a party with dancing. At one moment, I found myself getting down to the beat, while my brain was processing in slow motion. You know that scene at the end of many movies, where someone is seeing reality in slow motion, and you as the viewer can feel the energy come off the screen, that was happening to me. It was as if there was a panoramic camera following the dance floor and highlighting for a moment, all the faces in the crowd. While this was happening, I realized all the faces around me were those who have a direct impact each day on my career journey. Either they were the President, my direct leader, a mentor, a partner, a co-worker, or a newfound friend. It was the happy ending to a long week of long hours, networking, reviewing business plans, hearing new ideas, and celebrating successes. It is in this moment, I am blanketed with gratitude, the feeling I am exactly where I am supposed to be and how did I get so lucky, all wrapped in a few short slow-motion seconds.

I am not sure if you have ever experienced the sensation I am describing. If you have not, I can share being present is a big part of feeling these moments. I will also share, that these are the moments that count. The blanket I outlined stays with you as you reflect on that day, the activity that lead to that moment, and what your plan is for continued success.
